Life is hard for many in the ultra rural north of Nandom, most of its 11,000 inhabitants survive on subsistence farming – with poverty incidence in some villages as high as 50%.
Many children arrive at school hungry, are in torn uniforms with broken shoes and desks. Hunger makes it hard to concentrate or stay in school all day, and many don’t even attend.
These children deserve more.
For one hundred and eighty seven pupils in the remote villages of Bu and Tantuo, everything is about to change. From January, we'll be there for them. A daily lunch, textbooks and educational materials will give them the chance they deserve to learn with dignity.
