ATE is a young, dynamic charity which is making a significant impact in Lawra, Upper West Ghana. We are looking for a kind, enthusiastic person to join our vibrant SNAP (Special Needs Awareness Programme) Team as a SNAP Coordinator. This vital position will support ATE’s innovative and important work with disabled children and their families in rural communities and our Inclusion Centre. Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating monthly SNAP group meetings in Lawra, Dowine and Tanchara
- Running a Play Scheme for disabled children in ATE’s Inclusion Centre and rural communities
- Supporting community outreach work to enable disabled children to access education and healthcare, and to enjoy their rights free from discrimination
- Renew Health Insurance cards for disabled children and mothers
- Supporting the SNAP Project Lead to run all areas of SNAP
The right candidate must:
- Be sensitive, kind and enthusiastic when interacting with disabled children and their parents
- Be able to organise and run exciting and enjoyable group teaching activities with disabled children (experience of teaching would be an advantage but is not essential)
- Be confident when speaking with community members and leaders
- Be an outstanding relationship builder with all member of the community, from senior leaders to the most vulnerable
- Be a positive team player who enjoys working with others
- Be motivated to make change in the community
- Have excellent spoken Dagaare and English language
- Be literate in English
- Have access to a smart phone and motorbike
