ATE is pleased to announce the appointment of a sixth trustee
Alice Delemare first became connected with ATE when she lived in Upper West Ghana for 18 months from 2012-2014. She worked as a Community Advocacy Support Officer in the district of Jirapa, next to Lawra. In this role Alice worked alongside the District Education Service, a local organisation and VSO to support the education of girls and disabled children.
During this time Alice saw how people living in Upper West Ghana were working hard for their future – for their education, their health and economic opportunity. She is proud to be a trustee for ATE as she has seen first-hand how the organisation listens and works in partnership with the community in Lawra to ensure people have the opportunity to fulfil their potential; whether at school or in their small business.
“Working together with the community, ATE has created opportunities for people in one of the poorest districts of Ghana to take control of their future. This is an organisation I am immensely proud to support”.
Alice is currently Campaigns Adviser at Bond, the UK membership body for organisations working in international development. Her background is in international development, advocacy and campaigning. She has worked in a variety of advocacy and campaigning roles including with Oxfam, VSO, the Electoral Reform Society and in the constituency office of an MP. She also has a Master’s Degree in Development Studies and Gender.
She is passionate about activism, equality and bringing people and organisations together to achieve positive, long-term change. When she’s not campaigning, supporting ATE, or thinking about ways to create change in the world, Alice likes to take long walks along the river and catch up with friends over coffee.
