Last Thursday, the 11th June, Sarah and Luke were invited to and attended a fundraising event at The Castle School in Newbury. The event was organised to raise money to support the students carrying out the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and for ATE.
During the evening, there was a range of fundraising activities taking place including face painting, a helium balloon release, a BBQ and bar, and a mass leg wax. As the evening began, Sarah shared a short message about ATE’s work in Ghana, and the similarities between The Castle School and our own SNAP program.
As a result of the evening, the Castle School donated an incredible £520 to ATE. Sarah commented on the evening, stating ‘We are extremely grateful for all the support received from The Castle School. I am looking forward to returning to share news of how the money the students raised was put towards helping the disabled children we work with closely in Ghana .’
We finished the event off with an emotional balloon release, into the low setting sun. This was a very poignant moment as a lot of the children had purchased a balloon, and enjoyed seeing how far their balloon travelled compared to their fellow students. It really was a fantastic evening!
