It has been an incredible few months for Action Through Enterprise, with some truly inspiring work. In these troubled times, we are showing it is possible to make a long lasting difference.

The expansion into Nandom is already bringing real hope to pupils, entrepreneurs, apprentices and disabled children. With your support, we’re changing thousands of lives – here are some of our highlights.

NEW TERM!

This week, we launched at a second school in Nandom. Over the summer break, parents from Tokuu Junior High School built a kitchen, and the first school meals have just been served to 48 pupils! We are now supporting 11 schools across two districts – read about the launch here.

We are also delighted to see 116 disabled children back at school, looking smart in new uniforms made by seamstresses supported by ATE.

“MORE THAN JUST FUNDING”

This year, we are backing 26 small businesses –  the most businesses we’ve ever set up in one go. With 16 entrepreneurs in Lawra already in receipt of grants, and another ten to follow in Nandom, this will give the local economy a huge boost. A number of parents with disabled children are also joining the programme, which will be a game-changer for their families. Business training starts soon.

We’re especially excited to support CitraBloomm, an innovative and growing company producing biopesticides and encouraging sustainable farming. They are one of three bigger businesses in our pilot Entrepreneur Accelerator programme. They told us: “We are deeply grateful ATE for believing in our vision and awarding us grants to help grow our company. This support is more than just funding, it’s an investment in our mission. Let’s grow healthy together!’

Read about some of the businesses we’re supporting here.

We’re also shortlisting 20 young women who will soon begin apprenticeships! This investment in their futures makes a life long difference.

REAL CHANGE ON A MODEST BUDGET

We pride ourselves on our cost-effective model, so were thrilled to address the House of Commons International Development Committee inquiry on Value for Money earlier this year! You can watch our Chief Executive, Sarah Annable-Gardner, give her compelling evidence here.

It’s been a busy year for Sarah, who also had a truly inspiring trip to Ghana in July. She was staggered to see the long-term transformation since she set up the charity in 2012, visiting people who have dramatically improved their lives – and the phenomenal team who made it happen. Read some of Sarah’s moving stories here.

HILLDROP FUNDRAISER A TRIUMPH!

It’s a huge thank you to Tim Eliot-Cohen, his committee, sponsors and the people of Ramsbury – over a thousand people gathered in May for a day of clay shooting and a night of dancing in aid of Action Through Enterprise. Watch the moving film of Tim’s trip to Ghana – premiered on the night – here.

SWITCHING ON HOPE

We’ve made history, connecting Lawra and Nandom with the whole world by switching on the wifi at our two Technology and Learning Zones. For most children who flock to the Zones, this is their first taste to the internet. A whole generation is learning the digital skills needed for the future. Watch the exciting moment we switched on the internet here!

SAVE THE DATE

If you live near Ramsbury and would like to hear Sarah and Tim talk about their eye-opening trips to Upper West Ghana and find out more about work – then put 27th November, 6pm, in your diary! We’re hosting an evening with chat, nibbles and wine at the Ramsbury Holy Cross Church. Hope to see you there!

Thank you so much for all your support. Together, we are truly making the world a better place.

With very best wishes,
Sarah, Kaamil and all the team at Action Through Enterprise
