On Saturday evening, Luke attended a concert organised by the North Swindon Rotary club at St Michaels Church in Highworth, to raise money for ATE. Pegasus Brass Band, Swindon School of Brass, and a selection of soloists were tasked with entertaining an 80+ strong audience and they didn’t disappoint. Recently appointed Musical Director, David Mace, and trombonist for the School of Brass, introduced each musical arrangement (some of which were self-written), and conducted throughout the evening with as much enthusiasm and energy as the liveliest Kindergarten students at Karbo Primary School. The brass bands and soloists played with precision and passion as they played a selection of music ranging from a Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows piece, to a Jazzy ‘Birdland’ number, Luke’s personal favourite, Coldplay’s ‘Viva la Vida’ (or Diva as the conductor Joked).

During the interval, Luke was able to hand out brochures and share about our work to the members of the audience. It was a great opportunity for us to connect with many people who hadn’t yet heard about ATE and continue to support the Rotary Club in their commitment of raising funds for us.

The concert raised £880 in total for our projects in Ghana, and everyone connected to ATE would like to thank the members of the North Swindon Rotary for organising a great evening, the musicians for entertaining us so well, and of course each member of the audience for buying a ticket that will so greatly contribute to our work.

A wonderful, enjoyable evening.
