On International Women’s Day,  Action Through Enterprise is so proud to celebrate a fantastic new generation of young women who are attending Senior High School (SHS). Without our support, they could not afford to go – with us, they can change the world!

This week, the girls gathered in the Lawra Inclusion Centre for an inspiring session with some awesome alumni of our ‘Girls to SHS’ project. Olivia (above left) – who we supported through junior and senior high school – is now our brilliant Assistant Hub Manager, and leads the project:

“At first, almost all of these girls were hopeless because of the poverty level in their families and in the community. But from the moment ATE supported these young ones, I have seen transformation in their lives. They’re going to achieve their goals and also inspire the young ones that are still coming up.”

The impressive Rosemary (above right) – who despite a disability and the cancellation of her exams, is now ready to embark on her teacher training – gave an inspiring speech:

“With this support from ATE, you should strive to make the donors proud and demonstrate to your communities and friends that you are capable of achieving great things despite financial challenges.”

And Jennifer (below, centre) – who’s in her first year at SHS – is now more committed than ever:

“I want to study hard so that I can become a nurse in the future, give back to my community, and serve as a role model for children.”

We celebrate these wonderful young women – and can’t wait to see what they achieve in the future! If you’d like to help them do it, check out The Lucy Project on our Funding Priorities page to find out more.
