“To be named Small Charity Big Achiever at the Third Sector Awards is wonderful recognition of the huge impact we make on our small budget.”

Michele Carlisle, Head of Communications and Partnerships, collects our award!

Action Through Enterprise has taken home the title of Small Charity Big Achiever at the prestigious Third Sector Awards, with SNAP Inclusion project lead Ernestina Gan ‘Highly Commended’ in the Unsung Hero category.

The judges described our submission as “deeply impactful … demonstrating clear, long-term, systemic change for ultra-rural communities.”

The award was made at a glittering ceremony at London’s Hilton on Park Lane Hotel in front of over 500 people. Following the ceremony, Chief Executive Sarah Annable-Gardner said:

We’re raising a glass across two continents! I’m beyond delighted that our amazing Ernestina Gan was Highly Commended as an Unsung Hero – so well deserved. It’s a ‘cheers’ to Action Through Enterprise and to Ernestina (who will always be our Hero), to our team and our beautiful work. Of course, we can only do this life-changing work thanks to our generous supporters – this award is for you too!”

The title comes after a year of punching above our weight. From expanding to a new district and doubling our reach, to switching on the internet for a whole generation of children, to getting 100 disabled children into school – it has been a transformational twelve months. And not forgetting Sarah Annable-Gardner’s inspiring appearance at the Common’s International Development Select Committee talking about how we do all this on a modest budget.

With plans to continue our roll out in Nandom with the launch of a new hub in ultra rural Basebele in January 2026, this award is a testament to how much we’ve already achieved – and how much we can achieve in the future.

Action Through Enterprise is truly a Small Charity, Big Achiever!
