Kuunibe Zupuo – 13 years old, P4, Karbo Primary
When Kuunibe woke up this morning she didn’t have anything to eat in the house and she hardly ever does. She lives in a compound house with her grandparents, parents, aunties and uncles, 4 sisters and 4 brothers, one of whom is also at the school in P5.
She says that due to hunger she used to pretend to be sick and return home from school. She has just eaten a school lunch of rice and beans, is now full and says that she doesn’t absent herself from school any more.
She says that of all the help that she has received from ATE – school meals, books, uniform – what she really values most is the free health insurance. For all of this she is very grateful to ATE.
