Yesterday morning, Leela Shanti arrived in Lawra, after a very long bus journey from Accra. We are delighted to have Leela volunteering for us for the next 6 weeks. Leela is an experienced and competent development professional, who will add tremendous value to the team.
“Its been a fantastic first morning with ATE. Zipping about on the back of Project Manager, Habib’s moto, I was delighted to meet the warm and welcoming Headteachers, teachers and children at Karbo Primary and JHS and the ladies who prepare the school feeding lunches of gari and beans! I’ve also been introduced to some of the recipients of ATE grants to grow their small businesses. Mr Alfred showed me the fine baskets he weaves, I enjoyed the toasty smell of Agnes’ corn roasting to make Tom Brown, her husband Mr David showed me the happy grunting piglets he is rearing and I admired the hand woven cloth made by three lovely ladies in Zambo. I’m looking forward to getting to know more about ATE, the people they are supporting and to contributing as much as I can whilst I am here.”
